I’m back in Ohio, but not for long. I came home from school a couple weeks ago and have been enjoying time with family and especially my new nephew Greyson. Coming home is always a big change from the regular hussle and bussle of being a college student. I am spending the first half of my summer at home and then heading to Thailand for the second half.
While in Southeast Asia, I will be doing my Cross-Cultural Studies internship as is required for my major. I feel so blessed and excited to be taking this journey across the world to be able to work with kids and serve the Lord. I am still in the first steps of my journey as I am working on raising support and getting everything in order to travel overseas. I have taken a handful of short-term mission trips during high school to Central and South America, but I am looking forward to being able to stay in Asia for two months this time. It has been so long since I’ve traveled, and I feel so much more equipped this time. I have learned many things about missions and the world during my studies at Nyack, and I am thrilled to see these lessons played out in real life.
I am looking forward to this trip and hoping to learn so many things. My time at Nyack has made me hunger even more to travel and meet new people and learn from them. I am praying that I am changed and that God gives me an even greater clarity about my future. I have only one more semester remaining at Nyack College and then I will be heading out into the “real world”. I have known almost my entire life that I wanted to travel the world and help people while also sharing the love of Christ. This trip is a small glimpse into my future dreams that I have always held for my life. I feel so blessed for this opportunity and also grateful to Nyack for the very important role it has held thus far in helping me achieve my dreams. I honestly feel like I blinked and jumped from high school Erin to College Erin who gets to go to Thailand and is graduating at the end of the year. Time is moving so quickly, but I am learning so much and I am overjoyed to learn and experience so many amazing things as I travel to Thailand later this summer.
