Coffee and College

As finals are quickly approaching, there is one thing, besides Jesus, that will stay with you and help you through all the long nights and studying. That one thing is coffee. College has been changing coffee haters into fanatics for years now and I admit my slight addiction for the stuff. I have truly come to love and appreciate a good cup of Joe. But, just because you’re in college doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy quality coffee drinks that taste like more than bitter sludge. Here are some of the varying ways I have come to enjoy my liquid caffeine

THE ORIGINAL

This one is pretty self-explanatory as it is just your run of the mill cup of coffee. Of course you will need a coffee pot, (I purchased mine for six dollars at Wal-Mart) filter, ground coffee, and water.Personally I love trying different coffee from places all over the world. Follow the directions and filter through as usual then drink it out of your favorite cup or travel mug. This is for the coffee purists, but I like to add cream and sugar as well.

VANILLA ICE

The iced coffee option is one I love to make in the cafeteria. You start with a red caf cup and add four creamers and a pack of sugar. Next add a shot of the vanilla flavoring then fill the cup half way with ice. Now it’s time to add the coffee, and once you’ve filled it almost to the top stop and add some additional ice. Give it a good stir and enjoy!

FROZEN COFFEE

Frozen coffee is definitely my favorite to drink, but requires the most time and ingredients. Like I said before it is worth it to invest in a coffee pot, but in addition I received a blender this past Christmas and it has really come in handy especially for this recipe. After you’ve made your coffee you can proceed to adding all the ingredients into the blender. Add ½ cup of coffee, 2 cups of milk, 1/3 cup of sugar, 1 ½ cup of ice and blend well. This is a great and cheap alternative also to spending all your money on expensive coffee drinks.

I hope you enjoy these recipes and have a chance to test them out. Being at Nyack College has truly opened my eyes to the wonderful world of coffee! These are great to try for yourself or even share it with your roommate or a friend. I have learned here at college that coffee will keeps you awake and can bring people together.
